The Potential Benefits of E-Recruiting

The Potential Benefits of E-Recruiting

In my opinion, the benefits of e-recruiting do outweigh the costs.  Honestly, we are dependent upon technology in the present workforce for so many activities.  Therefore, some may argue, that by default the benefits of e-recruiting outweigh the costs, but my justification should help support this belief.  First, e-recruitment involves the use of the Internet to hire candidates for a specific job opportunity and some of its benefits are it broadens the scope of candidates, minimizes hiring costs, makes better hires, saves time, and expedites the process, and results in efficient candidate sourcing.  Ultimately, having a workforce with technological capabilities does outweigh the costs because of all of the benefits of e-recruiting mentioned thus far.

Essentially, technology allows us to be more efficient and productive in the workforce.  For the most part, having the right resources and implementing e-recruitment software could be cost-effective and save one time, while attracting elite talent.  Additionally, e-recruiting allows companies more flexibility and versatility since e-recruiting can be implemented in many ways.  For example, a company can create its e-recruiting platform, use specialized software, or utilize particular services from a recruiting agency that can help advertise specific positions.  Also, e-recruiting makes job applications more accessible and easier for employers to receive their resumes.

In terms of practicality, e-recruiting is beneficial, but critics will argue that it exacerbates the digital divide, maintains power and prestige differences, and could result in an adverse impact in terms of discrimination.  Unfortunately, discrimination will most likely always exist in society to some extent and individuals in society have to complete their due diligence, work hard, and put effort into finding work opportunities to grow in their careers.  America is a nation built on capitalism, working hard, and being independent, so people have to acknowledge that and work accordingly.  Leaders can implement e-recruiting with specific policies and training to try to minimize discrimination, but every system will have its advantages and disadvantages.

All in all, technology has helped positively change the hiring process.  Technology has provided convenience and objectivity within the recruiting process.  Technology has been shown to reduce bias, improve onboarding, and decrease the time-to-fill.  These benefits do outweigh the costs because the digital divide and the adverse impact of discrimination from e-recruiting can be fixed if more resources are provided to underprivileged groups.  Why should we hinder the growth of the recruiting process in America because of systemic issues that can potentially be resolved by political leaders?  The bottom line is that we are now a world dependent upon technology and it will be too costly now to revert.
